Rex Whistler: The Plain Subaltern. Ink & wash drawing. The image has been cut out and mounted on paper. 11 x 10cms (4.5 x 4 inches) image area. Done for a BP Ethyl press advertisement in 1933. The theme for the series of drawings seems to have been 'The Plain..........'. Accompanied by a half-tone proof of the image showing corrections. Very much in his OHO! style.
