Eric Ravilious: A. Pollard furrier. Colour lithograph. Preliminary design for High Street, 1937. 245 x 180mm. Ravilious first 3 experiments for High Street were published in Signature in March 1937. As can be seen from the published image of the 1938 High Street plate attached, the design underwent some marked colour changes, both in the the shop window & the doorway, and a black element has been added to the signboard. There has also been some additional work on the top edge of the design. This print benefits from the larger page format of Signature, giving it the wide margins that are lacking in the book prints. As less of these prints were issued than the book ones, they are scarcer too.
